My boss was kind enough to organize for me to spend a night at the stunning Sunset Fisherman’s spa resort in Playa Del Carmen, my husband and I were treated like VIP’s the entire time we were there. I am now in love with Playa Del Carmen!!!
Sunset Fisherman is located about 15 minute walk from the center of town in Playa Del Carmen or a 5 min cab ride and 20 minutes drive from Cancun airport. The entrance to the resort is surrounded by lush jungle and exclusive homes that you would see in magazines, there are also some remains of ruins also that were used to watch out for the Spanish.
On arrival at Fisherman’s the first sight you see are the amazing views of the Caribbean sea and the heart of the resort and a cute little bar perfectly located near the check in desk. We were greeted by friendly staff who all spoke perfect English among other languages, once checked in we were escorted to our ocean front room. The room was huge with a massive separate bathroom with shower and bath, the Jacuzzi perfectly located on the balcony with stunning views (perfect place to relax with a bottle of bubbly), even from the king sized bed you can see the blue blue waters.
Even though Playa Del Carmen is only a short walk from the hotel we decided to stay in and take advantage of the all-inclusive services, with dinning choices from room service, Italian and Asian cuisine. Italian won and we were not disappointed, the personal service from the staff made the dinning experience all that more enjoyable . From the moment we sat down our drink orders were taken and promptly delivered and the yummiest fresh bread rolls, I would highly recommend the beef burgundy and chocolate gelato for desert. I was a bit hesitant about what the wine would be like, since you hear so many bad stories about the quality of alcoholic beverages at all-inclusive hotels I was not disappointed at all I could not get enough of the white wine.
Since we had an ocean front room we decided to have an early night and take advantage of the views and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, we fell asleep with the doors open and the coolest breeze coming through the door. Next morning was amazing, sun was out and the ocean was flat and calm, by 9 am their was jet skies buzzing about, fishing and diving boats sailing by and the clearest view over to Cozumel. Room service was on the menu for breakfast, fresh coffee and fresh fruit juice served with a hearty breakfast of our choosing (word of warning the habanero chili sauce is super hot but has the most amazing taste).
We had a super late checkout so we decided to relax in the room for as long as we could before going for a late lunch then back home to Cancun, to my delight fresh salmon fillets were on the menu. Perfect light lunch with white wine, guacamole and tomato salsa and my salmon cooked to profection whilst sitting back staring at the Caribbean finished off with more chocolate gelato.
Even tho it is now high season and the resort was booked out we felt like we were the only ones there, it was quiet and peaceful we really didn’t want to leave. Should have hit my boss up for a spa treatment or two, will work on that one.
